Venture OffRoad started as a hobby about 11 years ago, when Tim Tull bought a tired old CJ7 for $3,000. After being purchased, the truck quickly earned the nickname, “The Turd”. That name was based on both the unique way that the truck ran and its outstanding appearance. The body tub was a dark chocolate brown, the door several shades darker brown with a black stripe
down the hood and a tan hard top. In 1999, some rot was found in the
frame of the poor old truck, and while most folks would have written the
beaten old wreck off, instead a new frame was purchased. Slowly parts
were removed from the old frame, restored or replaced, and then added to
the new frame. After about a year of hard work, on a strained budget, a
new truck was born under a shinny coat of John Deer Yellow.
Since that time, the now trusty old CJ7 has taken Tim and his family down
trails such as the Badlands ORV park, Guard Rail and Helicopter pad in
Tellico, and through several trail systems in Tennessee and Kentucky.
Along the way, Tim and his family developed a vast network of friends and
family who were all infected with the same ORV bug. It seemed contagious. The more places they went, the more people that wanted to go.
How did this hobby become a business? It all started with a simple idea kicked around by good friends sharing a passion for what could be. After over a year of research, way too much coffee, and several hundred doodled table napkins later, Venture OffRoad was born.
Venture OffRoad now consists of several different teams all brought together to ensure the success and quality of our product. The group of friends and family that were all there in the beginning still work hard with us every day, and are the driving force behind this idea. We also brought in several outside firms to handle the work that we could not.
Zeal International for Marketing and Development,
Star Delivery Solutions for our fulfillment work, and of course
Petersen Productions for the production work itself.
Now backed by companies such as
Jeep Jamboree,
Tread Lightly,
Northwest 4X4, and
Bill Marsh Jeep, Venture OffRoad has taken off. The thing that we have enjoyed the most over the years is all of the new people we have met, the friends we have made, and the sense of camaraderie we share with everyone we come across on the trail. Our intention now is to create a video series that shares that sense of camaraderie with our viewers. We want to be your tour guide as we travel to the most sought after ORV destinations. Venture OffRoad will go beyond the trail to show you what the surrounding area of each location has to offer. Sit back and enjoy the show, we look forward to your input and hope to see you on the trail.
